Turbo Fruits' founder Jonas Stein has recently launched his own record label, Turbo Time Records, with the roaster of Turbo Fruits (for course) and Nashville's PUJOL (who has recently released a 7" with Jack White's Third Man Records label ).... And Tuesday marked the release of the Turbo Time's first 2 releases: PUJOL's 'Alive At the Same Time' 7″ & Turbo Fruits’ 'Where the Stars Don’t Shine' 7″

Deer Tick Tour Bus Auction

If you are in the market, there are a little less than 4 days left to make an eBay bid for Deer Tick's 2001 GMC Savana Schoolbus which was used as their tour bus for all of their 2009 U.S. tour. A portion of the money made from the bus, nicknamed "The Flagship," will go to benefit Pakistan flood victims via Oxfam America:

The Parting Gifts: 'Keep Walkin'

We were recently introduced to The Parting Gifts, a killer side project featuring songwriters Greg Cartwright (The Oblivians, Compulsive Gamblers, Reigning Sound) and Coco Hames (The Ettes, Coco Motion). Their debut LP (due this Nov via In The Red) began as a one-off 7" split but within no time evolved into a full-length album.

And if that wasn't enough, the album also features performances from The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach and The Greehornes/The Raconteurs drummer Patrick Keeler!

“we hope that you are doing well today. the band has been straight up busy in the studio this summer with a fairly large collection of songs. we are pleased to share a handful of them with you right now. this record is something we made as a little summer retreat from our ongoing work on the third full length. many of these tunes have been bouncing around since the formation of the band back in 06. we were super pumped to utilize a few fresh and casual musical approaches on this record. we hope that you find something that satisfies you within this body of work. if you enjoy the music and feel compelled to support the group, please notice the support button beneath the download link and the image. we are going to be heading out on the roads this october and would greatly appreciate anything that you would feel comfortable contributing.

i would also like to add that we are still hard at work on the as yet untitled third lp. we expect to be wrapping that record at the end of the month. we can’t wait to play loads of this new material for you folks this winter and next year. at the moment i am writing all of the album info on a limited run of cd copies of ‘last day of summer’ that will be lovingly hand packaged and available at our fall shows. can’t wait to see you soon!”

Harlem! LIVE! Tonight in Chattanooga!

Just recently coming off their tour opening for The Dead Weather in early August, Austin TX's Harlem will be in town tonight (9/7) here in Chattanooga at JJ's Bohemia... Breathe Owl Breathe: A Look Into 'Magic Central'

Breathe Owl Breathe is a band from rural Michigan who were recently signed to Hometapes records this summer (which is also home of South Rail favorites Bear In Heaven). There latest LP, 'Magic Central,' won't be out till Sept 28th but Hometapes is already giving us a little peak into the album...
